Student Technical Intern (Summer 2015)

Role Summary

Under direct supervision, a Student Technical Intern is responsible for learning to operate, support, program, and maintain the Unisys Clearpath Mainframe System. The student will work on problems of limited scope using standard programming concepts and principles. Will work under high supervision/guidance with frequent review of accomplished objectives. Requires theoretical knowledge of programming languages. Expected to learn on the job technical skills.

Key Responsibilities as a student technician you will:

  • Learn basic Unisys Clearpath platform, operating system, and compiler
  • Learn basic operation of the Unisys Clearpath Mainframe, including CANDE (Command AND Edit) & WFL (Work Flow Language)
  • Implement defined tasks as directed by supervisor(s)
  • Document problems and their resolution
  • Work in a wide range of areas including operations, support, and programming (COBOL & WFL)
  • Estimate and propose new approaches
  • Work with the team to implement new approaches

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education : Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Computer Science program or similar discipline
  • Engaged in college projects related to software development
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience working with one or more major programming languages, COBOL a plus
    • Knowledge of compilers
    • Knowledge of computer architecture
  • Functional Skills:
    • Shows curiosity and initiative to learn
    • Team Player/Collaborative
    • Strong analytical & problem solving skills
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Microsoft Administrator (Windows 7 Desktop)

We are seeking a strong Windows 7 Desktop Administrator. The Administrator should have strong technical skills, good customer service skills and desire to expand those skills in a team environment.

As a Microsoft Administrator, you will be responsible for installation, configuration, and administration of the Windows 7 Desktop Operating System and application deployment Servers. The Microsoft Administrator will also be required to support 1000+ desktops with Microsoft System Center as well as manual installs of software.  You will also be involved in planning and implementation of future desktop upgrades to the Windows desktop operating system, and provide remote support for branch locations.


  • Install and configure desktop software
  • Document desktop software installations and configurations
  • Create software installation scripts for automated software distribution
  • Maintain and support Microsoft Windows 7 Desktop
  • Maintain the desktop OS image creation process
  • Create and manage Group Policies
  • Create and manage Active Directory login scripts
  • Test and deploy security patches to desktop and server environment
  • Run audit reports against Microsoft environment for SOX compliance
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems
  • To provide 24x7 support, all full time associates participate in a rotating on-call schedule
  • Participate in project teams on various projects
  • Provide desktop support assistance


  • 3+ years of direct hands-on experience implementing and maintaining a Windows 7 Desktop and 2008/2012 server environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of virtual server technologies.
  • Working knowledge Windows 2008/2012 Server.
  • Strong knowledge of DNS and DHCP services in a Microsoft environment.
  • Outstanding customer service and interaction skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player and a willingness to lend a hand with any project.
  • High level of initiative and dedication also required.
  • Scripting knowledge with vbscript, WMI and Powershell a plus!
